by admin on February 21, 2012

I’m a girl, and i’m REALLY embarrassed about my excessive body hair. i have it rather thick EVERYWHERE- my butt, pubic area, back, thighs, arms, breasts, belly, face, underarms, hands, feet….i hate it. i want to get it removed forever…but i dont know how to confront my parents about it because i dont want to hear "its normal". but first i would like to know if there is an age limit?? and some opinions about the procedures…please. thanks so much!!

I used to work at a laser hair removal clinic and if a client was under 18 parental consent was always needed. If certain areas are really bothering you I would just tell your mom it makes you self conscious, im sure she wont have a problem with it.

I have had plenty of laser hair removal and it works great. I wouldnt recommend electrolisis, its very painful and results are not great. Be prepared for the process to take about a year, your hair grows in cycles and the laser can only kill what is actively growing at once. After your treatment your hair will fall out after about 2 week. You will stay hairless for about a month and a half after that. After you notice your hair has grown back you will want to make another appointment. Personally, i start to notice results after about 4 treatments. Although the process takes about a year, you will be hairless most of the time, as your hair falls out 2 weeks after treatment. The laser itself feels like a snapping elastic band. Some people can sleep through the treatment while others find it more uncomfortable. Ask around to see if the place offers lidocain cream, which is a mild anestetic that makes the procedure more comfortable. Laser hair removal is awesome, a great way to permanently get rid of hair if it is really bothering you. Try not to get into the whole waxing ritual…it hurts really bad and your often left with nasty ingrown hairs that look worse than the hair itself. If your young and are a little uneasy about getting into removal (it can be addictive and exhausting) try cream bleach. It works good for mild facial hair and you can buy it at the drug store for 5 dollars.

…good luck
